Ottó Herman’s former holiday cottage in Lillafüred, also known as the ‘Pele-house’ was built between 1898 and 1903 as part of the then newly made holiday resort there. The building was given to the Museum of Miskolc’s handling in 1951; the first permanent exhibition held inside it was opened in 1964. The memorial house was fully renovated in 2007.

The exhibition showcases the life and work of the museum’s namesake and his ties to Miskolc and Lillafüred-Hámor in two rooms. Many of the Pele-house’s original furniture along with Ottó Herman’s personal belongings, letters and manuscripts can be found in the first room’s interior and glass cabinets. The second room shows the last Hungarian polymath’s scientific activities; each specific field is presented separately with many items. In addition, this room also has spectacular piscatorial diorama. The Memorial House’s garden is used for museum education purposes and activities from spring to fall.
